The Junior Huskies Basketball Club was founded in 1999.
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for young males to learn and enjoy the game of basketball in a positive & competitive environment. Our program focuses on the individual skill and fundamental development of our athletes while instilling a team first attitude. We promote good sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and encourage club loyalty.
We provide the highest quality of coaching to all of our Junior Huskie players. Our coaches bring a wealth of knowledge of the game and many years of coaching experience at both the high school and university level. Both of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men’s Basketball assistant coaches are actively involved in the program.
The Junior Huskie season runs from the beginning of each April until typically the end of June. We provide teams with the best practice facilities in Saskatoon as all of our practices are held at the PAC on campus at the U of S.
We have four teams in different age groups including Under 14, Under 15, Under 16, and Under 17. Teams will participate in various club tournaments throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as our host tournament The Prairie Dog Classic. The PDC takes place at the PAC on campus of the U of S every May with teams attending from across the prairies. Teams will also attend a team camp towards the end of the season. In the past, Junior Huskie teams have attended team camps at Gonzaga University, University of Montana, and Eastern Washington University.
